For some time now, we have been considering how to improve our CO2 footprint. Our shipments from Asia, which have often arrived by air freight, are primarily responsible for this.
The reduction in flight capacities between Asia and Europe, attributable to the coronavirus, has led to a drastic increase in air freight rates. Consequently, many of our customers are now opting for rail or sea freight, accepting longer transport times.
This development will enable us to reduce the amount of CO2 generated by transport by approximately one-third in 2020.
Such transport methods often require minimum volumes, which we consistently achieve through the continuous increase of our imports.
We would be pleased to switch your shipments to a CO2-efficient transport alternative!
